We are Red Hat Factory — a movement regaining respect for the art of genuine handcraft.

Red Hat Factory Beanies

We produce hand knit goods

the way it has been done in Norway through generations. My mom, like many before her, in her favorite chair working two or more knitting needles with a large measure of patience.

Growing up, I always wore hand crafted, woolen wearables, but did not at all realize the heritage ingrained in such gifts — until one day I grew old enough to understand that my mother is in possession of a legendary crafting skill, passed down from one generation to the other.

Red Hat Factory emerged out of this realization.

Every Red Hat Factory product is hand knit

in four to five work hours, and we do not intend to speed up the process.

In a world of mass production and factories, we want to celebrate the slow and steady hand craft ingrained with years of heritage.

A mother teaching a daughter to knit, and a son building a brand around it to honor the slow development of crafted goods. It is my mother sitting in her favorite chair, slowly knitting, while their little dog runs around playing with her favorite toy.

You might say the name Red Hat Factory is used sarcasticly, though my mother is producing knitted goods like one.

We have a decade long guarantee on stitches coming loose, or threads snapping from years of wear. Send it back, and we’ll patch it up and ensure a long life and time to develop a heritage of its own.

An investment in one of our caps is a long term investment. It will stay with you through rain and sun, and only gain more character as it ages.

Our caps are 80% pure sheep wool, the socks 85%

, the wool type handpicked from South America and imported to a Norwegian mill, where it is processed.

The South American sheep are chosen over the Norwegian ones, because the wooly cousins down south yield just a bit softer wool.

After more than a year of testing, we went as natural and classic as we could, but decided to keep a blend of nylon for extended durability in all our products.

Take care of your 80% of wool
